The Story Behind Ms. Myrtle

A Sweet Legacy That Lives On

Ms. Myrtle Zachary Jackson founded the bakery in 2000, originally operating as Not Jus’ Donuts Bakery in Houston’s historic Third Ward community. Coming from a long line of bakers and cooks, she carried with her generations of family recipes, some dating back nearly 180 years.

Inspired by her desire to leave a lasting legacy for her children, grandchildren, and future generations, Ms. Myrtle built more than a bakery—she built a family business founded on love, perseverance, and excellence.

Following her passing in 2021, the bakery was renamed Ms. Myrtle’s Bakery Shoppe in her honor. Today, her legacy continues through the second and third generations of the family who proudly carry her vision forward
